One thing we love about this business is that there is no shortage of creative names around the incredible rubs and spices that we get to try. And Draper’s BBQ Moo’d Enhancer is in the top of the running for fun names, that not only nails the name of his newest beef rub, but really brings home the “Bovine Enhancement Powder” to something that is again special and unique.
Shane Draper is the man behind this latest spice and insiders in the industry tell me that he did a lot of research to find the perfect mix of herbs and spices to compliment this Beef Rub. It contains Sea Salt as the primary ingredient, and also throws in some paprika for flavor and color. It gives the beef a great light orange hue when rubbed on. The garlic and onion are just standards with Beef and it contains just a little MSG, which is something that competition folk are always looking for to provide that tenderness.
Shane set us up with a 1LB bag for sample and we have used on on NY Strips, Prime Rib, Ribeyes and some filet’s. Evvery one just raves about the stuff and wants to know more. The classic AP Rub used to be my goto on ribeye steaks. This new one is not as sweet and has a blend of herbs and spices with some heat that appears to be black pepper and some chipolte which provides an incredible aroma.
All and all, very excited to get this on my next brisket and really excited to start carrying the new 1LB packages which are now in resealable bags for long term maximum freshness. Not so sure that this bag will last too long. The package suggests trying this on all things that moo. So we are gearing up for some burgers, maybe trying it on tacos and possibly some pot roast. The heat hangs around for a little, but certainly is not too overpowering.

Often times I review products on the blog that I carry, but it has occurred to me that this can be considered a little self-serving and at the end of the day, probably is not the best way to give these great suppliers and partners their due. Well Shane Draper has been doing a rock star job of promoting his products and getting samples out to the various bloggers that matter in the world of sauce, rub, BBQ and Grilling. So below are snippets of what the bloggers are saying and links to their full posts. You can buy it at BBQ Pro Shop, Draper’s BBQ A.P. Rub and Draper’s BBQ Smokin’ Sauce.
From Hot Sauce Daily, thy do an incredible job of photographing the rub and the sauce and I really think that this is a great review of both products. Really did it some justice. My Favorite quote is from Marilyn who gave it 5 Stars!
They didn’t set out to be any of those regional sauces – they set out to make the best sauce they could make. I don’t think they need to change anything. They met their goal – this is a great BBQ sauce. It’s one of the best BBQ sauces I’ve ever had.
Scott Roberts is one of the best bloggers out there when it comes to reviewing sauces and rubs, he is often times on the BBQ Central Radio show and well-respected among the BBQ community. His review is very through and gets into a detailed review. I especially like how his review includes texture and close-up shots of the rub itself. This is what I found to be most unique about Drapers.
My verdict? The sauce is a must-have. If your food dollar can’t stretch that far, I would suggest to opt for only that. However, if you have a few extra bucks to splurge, go ahead and grab a bottle of the A.P. Rub as virtually deficiencies melt away as it combines with the Smokin’ Sauce.
Kevin’s BBQ Joints is the premier on-line resource for all things BBQ, he does a great job of getting together all sorts of great reviews on what else, BBQ Joints. He does most of the BBQ Joint reviews himself and occasionally has a guest review as well. You can search for BBQ joints by you and also check out his reviews of Rubs and Sauces. He did an excellent review that includes a lot of history of Draper’s BBQ A.P. Rub and Draper’s A.P. Rub.
I show the rub first as my father-in-law immediately used it on steaks the first day I had it and since then he’s used it on everything from roasts to chicken. He has told me on more than one occasion that this is the best rub he’s every used. I tend to agree it’s among the top I’ve ever used as it really enhances the flavor of meat instead of altering it to taste just like rub.
On to the sauce: I’d give it a 3 1/2 to 4 out of 5 stars (haven’t given any sauce a 5 yet) and would definitely be a sauce I’d purchase in the future.
Add Paddio Daddio BBQ to the mix of bloggers who have reviewed Drapers. He did a really in depth and straight to the point review of both the sauce and the rub. So add this one to the list of BBQ bloggers who are loving Draper’s BBQ A.P. Rub and Draper’s A.P. Rub.
If you are looking to for a sauce and/or rub that will add a new and unique dimension to your barbecue, you really can’t go wrong with Draper’s. It’s good stuff, indeed.
The latest review of the sauce comes from Wilfred Reinke aka Oshawa Ogre’s blog called Views, News & BBQ’s. He can be found on Twitter and Facebook and he always does a great job of talking about grilling and BBQ in a way that is very basic yet to the point. He did a great job reviewing the sauce and I really like his thoughts and the way that he uses rub on french fries! Click the link above and check out his full review, great pictures of the rub and sauce! We much appreciate the shout out on the blog too!
These ribs were fantastic! rivals anything that I ate at various RibFests last summer, DBQ Smokin’ Sauce enhanced the ribs both by the sauce that was slathered on during the last 10 minutes of the cook and when I added a bit more on top. Wow! I can see what Shane means when he put on the label of every bottle of Rub and Sauce ” Three generations of pride and flavour in a bottle”
Grilling With Rich takes the time to review this from a grilling perspective and tried it on some wings which is a switch from how it was reviewed by others, so adding this to the mix was helpful.
Drapers BBQ in-bodies some of the heart and soul of barbecue along with some great tradition of barbecue sauce and it is in my opinion that they are always striving to stay true to their roots, so with all that said, I am very proud to say that: Drapers BBQ has the Grilling with Rich Approval!
I have tried the rub on ribs and most recently on a ribeye steak which was an absolute treat, brings a nice savory flavor, adds the sweet and brings a little heat as well. Need to open up some sauce in the very near future! Hope you buy some from us and help out Shane Draper.
