Cooking Tips For Pulled Pork

Cooking Tips For Pulled Pork

Thinly sliced or shredded pork is popular with both kids and adults. Check out our tips and tricks to make this popular dish at home. Enjoy!

  • About Pulled Pork

Pulled pork usually involves cutting off the shoulder and cooking it for a long time until the meat is tender enough to shred easily with a fork. It was given the name "split" pork.

  • Weight Loss

Wondering what size to cut your pork ribs? We recommend a 6-7 pound Boston steak (shoulder). Remember that meat must be salted before cooking. Very large and small pieces will absorb brine at different rates and heat at different rates during cooking.

  • Brine

This is a great way to cook the meat for a long time to prevent it from drying out. Pork today is much leaner than it was a few generations ago, so it's important to keep it moist. Make a brine with 2 quarts of water, 1/2 cup of salt, and 1/2 cup of sweetener for a 5- to 8-pound serving. Use any sweetener of your choice. The meat should be carefully placed in the salt solution and kept in the refrigerator for 10–12 hours. You can buy brine for chicken online at the lowest price.

  • Use a dry rub

After marinating, rinse the pork thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels. If desired, use a dry rub or add salt, garlic powder, cumin, brown sugar, etc. Add it and create your own. Use chili powder for extra heat. If you are not sure how much of each herb to use, use one tablespoon of each herb. After mixing the spices, rub the surface of the pork to coat it as evenly as possible.

  • Cooking Pork

Pork can be cooked in a slow cooker or oven. If cooking the meat in the oven, cook the pork, uncovered, at 200 degrees or 210 degrees for 10 to 12 hours. When cooking pork in a slow cooker, add 1/2 cup of water and cook for about 8 hours. The pork should fall apart easily during cooking. If it still seems difficult, keep cooking until it is done. Pro tip: Allow pork to cool slightly before grilling to prevent burning. Use two forks to pull the meat apart. Some people like to add BBQ sauce to the pork and cook for another 2 hours, then add the BBQ sauce and serve the pork as well.

How do you eat pork?

Ground pork is usually served on hamburger buns. Add meat to barbecue sauce and top with lettuce (optional). There are other creative ways to serve pulled pork with white rice, fries, tacos, and burritos. Use pork in soups and casseroles.
