Chef Hans New Orleans Red Beans and Rice includes beans and all you need to create this classic side dish. This package will feed 4-6 and is even better with smoked sausage or add andouille sausage for even more flavor.
Ingredients: Small red beans, rice, color baked wheat flour, salt, (dehydrated onion, garlic, bell pepper (red & green), celery, tomato powder, marjoram, oregano, basil, thyme, black & red pepper, & turmeric, soy protein, sugar, lactose, caramel color, beef fat, chicken fat, yeast, paprika & turmeric extract.
Directions: rinse beans. Soak for a few hours before cooking. Add all ingredients except rice to 6 cups water. Simmer beans for 2 to 2 1/2 hours until tender. Cook rice separately in 1 1/2 cups salted water and 1 teaspoon butter until fluffy. Serve beans over cooked rice.
Suggestions: Push 1 cup cooked beans through strainer and add back to make creamier. add approximately 1/2 lb. smoked sausage, bacon or salted pork or a ham hock to beans while cooking, if available. For more zest, add 1 tablesppon Chef Hans' Hot pepper Sauce.
