Grilled Sweetened Salmon: Taste of Alaska

Grilled Sweetened Salmon: Taste of Alaska

Grilled Alaskan salmon is rich in flavor and flaky in texture. There are several types of Alaskan salmon to choose from, but sockeye salmon is usually preferred for its non-fishy taste. Try out this delicious Alaskan salmon sauce that’s mild enough to taste the salmon while adding a sweet and tangy zest. If you’re watching your calories but don’t want to sacrifice flavor, this is a delicious recipe with only about 158 calories and 10g fat (4g saturated fat) per serving. We recommend serving this dish with a light salad or coleslaw and a white wine.

BBQ Pro Alaska

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons grass-fed butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1-2 garlic cloves, minced (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 teaspoons Lambert’s sweet BBQ sauce or soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 salmon fillets (1” thick, about 6oz)

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan over the stove, combine butter, sugar, garlic, lemon, Lambert’s Sweet BBQ sauce, and black pepper. Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Before grilling the salmon, salt and pepper it heavily on both sides. This helps retain moisture during the cooking process.
  3. Put the salmon on the grill. We recommend a 400-degree grill for about 9-12 minutes. The internal temperature of the fish should be 130 degrees when cooked evenly.
  4. If the fillet has the skin, you don’t need to flip it while grilling. Otherwise, you should flip the salmon after about 5 minutes.
  5. Baste the grilled salmon with the butter sauce on one side. Flip, then baste on the other side. Continue basting occasionally, depending on depth of preferred flavor.
  6. The salmon should flake easily with a fork when it’s finished.
  7. Remove the salmon from the grill, baste one or both sides with the sauce, and serve!
